Bio

Hey y’all! (If you ever hear me say that something is wrong) I was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with a fighting spirit from the start.  Having extensive asthma as a child I spent much of my time in and out of hospitals.  My fitness journey began as a child leaning to swim at a very early age to overcome this obstacle.  At 14 I started playing football and recreational weight training and found my passion for fitness.  When I graduated high school, I was scheduled to play at ECU but there were different plans for my life and was diagnosed with Chiari malformation.  Again, another opposition for me to overcome but nonetheless I redirected my focus.  Two years later, due to the trauma to my body from yet another surgery, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.  Now, to say this was a huge transition would be an understatement.  Especially at 20 years old when you have already established routines, or none in my case.  The only constant through all of this was the gym.

I have worked with multiple trainers since I was 14 years old in power lifting, body building, recreational weight training, and in 2017, Crossfit.  I immediately fell in love!  The family atmosphere and relationships built are something that you don’t get from regular gyms.  It was something that I had been missing all along.  Someone to keep me honest and push me when I was at my limit and needed motivation.  Always making the workouts a little spicy and testing my limits to the extreme.  The amazing thing is that you see this in every Crossfit gym no matter where you go.  With work, I have been able to travel around the world which has allowed me the opportunity to drop in at different boxes and experience a sense of family with a common focus to improve results. Regardless of the country, city, state, or even continent, you are still greeted with the same welcoming smile and for 1-hour high intensity passion.  Therefore, I wanted to start coaching and in March of 2019 I received my CF-L1 certification to begin a new journey.

“Coaching” is something that I have always done.  In high school I loved coaching my brother’s basketball teams and helping them develop and build character.  As a Dad, I’ve done a different type of coaching and a lot of praying with my kids who are in separate phases of life and have contrasting personalities.  Currently I’m a Supplier Quality Manager at TE Connectivity where I coach a team of individuals across the US and Mexico to achieve and improve on goals set year over year.  For me, it’s a no brainer to combine the love for coaching and the love for fitness together helping others challenge themselves and achieve what they feel is impossible.  There is no better feeling then watching people achieve their goals then busting them down like an afterthought.  It’s all about persistence, a little bit of direction, and for some, change.  Here’s to intensity, change, development, fitness, family, and friendships!

Success in life comes when you simply refuse to give up, with goals so strong that obstacles, failure, and loss only act as motivation” – Jacqueline Gomez
